Fun Friday...

Posted by Mathew C. Walker

POSTPONED TODAY :( Sorry for the inconvenience.... NOT... okay that was an EPIC Fail joke... but anywho for fun friday let's go through some epic fails of life...

So why on earth do I have these 2 epic fail pictures on my blog? Well because they are cool and I'm a dork. Oh and also because Epic Fail relates to the gospel too! It so perfectly relates to Elder Wirthlin's talk "Come what May and Love it." We all face epic failures it's just how we deal with them. His advice is beyond any other reasoning. Simply Laugh at it. He tells this story:
"Getting lost was not an unusual occurrence for us. Once while heading south to Cedar City, Utah, we took a wrong turn and didn’t realize it until two hours later when we saw the “Welcome to Nevada” signs." (might I add EPIC FAIL) How though did they react?? "We didn’t get angry. We laughed, and as a result, anger and resentment rarely resulted. Our laughter created cherished memories for us." On this fun friday don't forget to laugh!!!

To begin read a couple of quotes from some TV shows on Jiminy Cricket:

What's Jiminy Cricket doing here? -Lost

I don't need Jiminy Cricket sitting on my shoulder
-Greek on ABC

Jiminy Cricket... That's one big Jiminy Cricket!!!! So now As Lost puts it "What's Jiminy Cricket doing here[on this blog?] Why exactly would I be talking about Jiminy Cricket at this point in time???? HMMMMmmmm maybe it's because I'm wearing a really cool tie with Crickets on it... maybe that's it... This is normally when I'd put a picture of the cool tie... and since Elder Dye conveniently has his camera and since we just took a picture in the library I can now show you Jiminy... that's what I named the tie!!! So please stare into the beauty of Jiminy...

No you can't have him... But any who lets get to the point... Did you know that Jiminy Cricket was initially a word used as a preventative of saying Jesus Christ too much. WOW that's cool I never knew that either tell Wikipedia told me so and Wikipedia is never wrong. Plus there is some other websites out there to verify it so I believe little Miss Wiki this time!!! Well I think it's really convenient that Jiminy Cricket in the movie Pinocchio is suppose to be the conscious and the one that leads Pinocchio on all his many adventures. Isn't that what Christ is for us... the one that leads us on all our great adventures. I know that Christ is there to lead us down a path that brings pure happiness... He is our flawless Jiminy Cricket... JIMINY CRICKET! So when times are rough remember you have your own J.C.... Jesus Christ!!! In the end it's true "[We] don't need Jiminy Cricket sitting on [our] Shoulder" but we do need Christ!

"Sooooo, I've been asked to write for Elder Walker's blog. Apparently he's a little lazy on Tues. Here goes...
I want tell you how I came from searching for the Truth since I was a teenager. I've been to almost every denomination you can think of. At 14, I knew I was in the wrong church. At 16, when I started driving, I would church hop. Sometimes I would enter a church building and the people were very friendly but that's as far as it went. I also felt like an outsider at some and even though I yearned to be part of their service, it was too clickish and I was ignored.
I'd even begged members of these different churches to study with me, but to no avail. I felt like I was traveling in a foreign country where I didn't understand their language. I never would give up though and off I'd go to yet another church.
Nothing changed after I was married. We both ended up church hopping. We had children and we drug them with us. That is until one day....
We had a yard sale 6 months ago and up rode two little Elder fellers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on their bicycles. They were so kind and they asked if we had any ties for sale. My husband actually went into his personal stash and let 'em pick through it. They offered to come back and help us clean up after the sale was over. We were dumbfounded but said it was okay but I didn't think they would show.
We couldn't believe they actually showed back up! We had an amazing discussion and they invited us to their church service. Of course we said yes because remember we were church hoppers.
We hadn't even gotten out of our car the first Sunday morning before somebody came rushing over to welcome us. Wow! I figured it was probably a fluke but no, it was a continuous stream of welcomes.
I'll admit, the service was slightly different than any other church I'd been to. It was amazing! I was a sponge and soaked up every smile, handshake, and spiritual lesson. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I didn't want it to end! My heart melted when I went into this class called Relief Society and I was intoduced as a "Sister".
Why is that such a big deal you ask? Well, at other churches, it was explained to me that since I wasn't a part of their church, I couldn't be called a sister.
I have to tell you at this point, I knew in my heart that my search was over. How did I know this?
Every time the Elders would come and teach me, I understood and believed every word. It has been so natural for me. I've been studying with little Elder fellers for almost six months. I have new Elders now that are studying with me and.........
I am getting baptized this Sat! WooHoo!!!!! I am just "giddy" and I can't hardly contain myself. I can't wait to "bury" my old self and become new when I come up outa that water. Oh.....I cannot wait to receive the Holy Ghost after. Spiritually. I am the happiest I've ever been. So......
The moral of this story is: Don't lose hope and don't give up. Keep searching for the Truth and you will find it....at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Well, that's my Testimony and I'm sticking to it. I write these words in the name of Jesus the Christ, and amen."

Every Body Makes Mistakes

Posted by Mathew C. Walker in , , , , , ,

You know what it's like to sit there and not know what to do on any given day? As I sat here and wondered what I should do for Musical Monday, it took me a while, just like it might take you a while, to figure out what you want to do. As I contemplated things I decided to have a little fun! So here goes nothing... As the title says Every Body Makes Mistakes... so true... so let's brake down Miley Cyrus...err I mean Hannah Montana's song "Nobody's Perfect!" Maybe by the end of it you might realize how to better your life and not be so confused on those "any given days!"

Sometimes I'm in a jam
I've gotta make a plan
It might be crazy
I do it anyway
How can I put this more simply??? Sometimes things might seem hard, but if we plan ahead then those jams will just turn out really yummy and successful!

No way to know for sure
I figure out a cure
I'm patchin? up the holes
But then it overflows

If I'm not doin' too well
Why be so hard on myself?

A lot of times we don't know if those plans are going to work, and other times we just try to do too much. We try to fix everything and as time goes on we overwhelm ourselves. This leads us to be super hard on ourselves and look down on ourselves, but...
So how exactly does this have anything to do with the gospel??? Well glad you asked... You see the more we set our priorities and plan a head for those priorities the more perfect we can actually become! Mathew 5 admonishes us to "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." So even though
"Everybody makes mistakes Everybody has those days Everybody knows what, what I'm talkin? 'bout
Everybody gets that way, yeah!" We must realize that as we set our priorties on God that the Atonement will no doubt make us perfect since it's true... we are Nobody with Christ being everything... so does that make us Perfect with Christ???

Saturday is a special day...

Posted by Mathew C. Walker in , , , , , , , , ,

A day to prepare for sunday! And EASTER!!!!! Yeah I love Easter!! Candy, Candy, Candy,

Wait one second this isn't suppose to be a secular website is it now... NO it's suppose to teach about Christ, but you are in luck... let's see why on Earth we celebrate Bunnies and Candy instead of Christ in an analogy I'm going to make up as I type!!!

So today Candy is going to be Christ... see they both start with a C... okay okay that's not why Candy is Christ, but rather because initially the candy is hidden in eggs and we have to run around searching for those eggs. Likewise Christ is hidden in the scriptures and if we don't search we won't find. Amos 8:11-12 teaches us "they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord, and shall not find it." Luckily though, we no longer need to worry about not being able to find it. It's right in front of us in the Book of Mormon and Bible, now we just simply need to search out the truth. It's there... what great truth comes from this knowledge!

Second we will relate the easter bunny to the Holy Ghost! Now don't say "BLASPHEMY" quite yet... hear me out. Who is always there to help us find those candy filled eggs? The Easter Bunny, who is there to help us find Christ??? The Holy Ghost. Their rules within this analogy hold truth to both sides! The Holy Ghost will ALWAYS be there to lead us back to Christ if we earnestly want his help!

Now to end I just want to add in the side analogy to the importance of finding Christ in the scriptures which can be compared to the eggs. As you open your eggs scriptures great things are found within. We are told to "feast upon the words of Christ"(see 2 Nephi 32:3), likewise we have a chance to feast upon lots of candy this Easter season, but don't ever forget the true meaning of what easter is all about... CHRIST!!!

Fun Friday!!!

free online games

Check this out! A basketball game for all those fun allusions to basketball this past week. Stay tuned for more of them but for right now play the game and think to yourself, it must be great that Elder Walker is such a big basketball fan that I'm sure in the near future will be another anology between basketball and the church. And if you insist on me relating this game to the gospel I will... As you play imagine how easy it would be to just simply do the easy shots over and over again and how you wouldn't really get anywhere. Eventually you have to try a shot that is somewhat harder. Likewise a lot of times the gospel comes easy to people initially but as time goes on it does require work. God works precept upon precept, line upon line. This game works precept upon precept, free throw line upon 3 point line. Enjoy!

Somewhere there's a mountain!

Posted by Mathew C. Walker in , , , , , , , ,

Today I will be writing something I have learned from someone else on my mission for tired of me Tuesday. So stick in there and bare with me as I try to explain to the best of my ability the lesson of "The Mountain!" A lesson of humility, of perseverance, and love. So imagine in your head that there is a mountain... if you are having a hard time imagining then here's a picture to help you out!

This picture is perfect for the purpose that I have learned from relating life to a mountain. So imagine that this mountain is part of our life, our goal is to get to the top and we've been promised blessings once we do so! However as we climb we get to points where it's straight up and we just don't know what to do. Likewise in life we get to points where it seems just too hard and we have no hope to go any further. At this point we can not just quit, we can't just sit down and do nothing. We can't look hopeless even if we are. This is what the devil wants us to do. We must continue with faith to climb the mountain and as we do so we will find pleasure each step of the way. However whenever we come across something joyful we can't just stop there and say our work is done, no we must continue because there is a bigger treasure at the top.

Sadly sometimes we might stumble but thanks to repentance we can climb right back up to where we were. Eventually we hit a point where there is nothing else we can do. This is where Christ's atonement helps us to fulfill our entire desire, through Baptism and the Holy Ghost we can truly continue to climb to the highest height. Finally as we continue to endure anything our ultimate treasure and happiness will arrive at the top of the mountain. But life would be just too simple if there was just one mountain... no there's much more than just one trial. Once we get to the top we can see that right behind that mountain is a bigger mountain waiting for us to climb. All eventually leading back to our Heavenly Father. All we have to do is have faith, repent, be baptized, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost and endure to the end, and Christ will supply the rest.... so Keep on climbing!

Basketball it's my favorite Sport!

Posted by Mathew C. Walker in , , , , , , , ,

I was thinking about putting musical Monday on hiatis for the NBA playoffs to talk more about how the gospel aligns so great with basketball, but instead I think I'll tie that into a great song by Lil Bow Wow called "Basketball"

They're playing basketball
We love that basketball
They're playing basketball
We love that basketball

Now basketball is my favorite sport
I like the way they dribble up and down the court
Now I just want ya'll to imagine the game of basketball and think about the game in general to the reality of life. This analogy will relate to you exactly the correlation of life and the game of basketball! So let's get playing! Think of the court as this world, each and everyone one of us as a basketball player on the court! I know that's awesome ain't it! So we were sent down here to play this game, to be tested to make sure we are the best we can be! Luckily we don't have to just jump right into the game we've been given a great Coach, our Dad. His name is God. He has been through it all and just you he knows exactly what you need in order to have fun on the court and win the game! He's the best coach you can ask for! In a time even before you entered the game you were with him and he was teaching you all the plays in essence he was preparing you for that big game! Now it's game time, you are getting ready to enter this world and you are scared to death. You realize that your coach can't go out there with you, you are on your own now. You enter the court and your adrenaline kicks in and you forget everything that you've already learned. OH NO WHAT TO DO NOW. Luckily your coach knew that this was going to happen, he's had pass players on his team experience the same loss of memory, so he's prepared a way for us to remember what it was that he taught him. He's given us players who over time and experience has mastered the entire play book.

I like slam dunks that take me to the hoop
My favorite play is the ally-oop
I like the pick-n-roll, I like the give-n-go
And it's basketball, Bow Wow, let's go

As Lil Bow Wow's song clearly shows there are a lot of plays in that playbook that can be done in the game of basketball. It is not an easy task to remember them all. Luckily God as our coach knew we'd forget what he taught us while we were with him, so he gave us a playbook we could use on the court. It's called the Holy Scriptures and it will teach you all things that you must do! Pretty cool ain't it!!! Eventually as time goes on and we get a couple fouls as long as we play according to that playbook we will be able to one day exit the court and go party in the locker room with your coach or in this case party in heaven with GOD!!!!
So always keep in mind lil bow wow's words "Now basketball is my favorite sport
I like the way they dribble up and down the court,"
but think of it in the spiritual sense. Now God's game of basketball is my favorite sport, I like that play book that teaches me to dribble up and down the court!

NBA PLAYOFFS!!

Posted by Mathew C. Walker in , , , , , , ,

The NBA Playoffs have come around once again and we all probably know who is going to win... or at least have an idea to is going to, but that's not the point of this post, no matter how much I wish I could rant about how my team is the best and how there is no way that they can lose however no I want to rather relate a pretty good team The Lakers style of play to the Gospel of Christ. I use this quite often in my teaching because how much I love basketball so hang in there now and get ready for a slam dunk of the Gospel!

So a little bit of an explanation to the triangle offense the Lakers use to help everyone understand where I'm going to be coming from.In the triangle offense every pass and cut has a purpose and everything is dictated by the defense, and yes that is from wikipedia... don't judge me for using such a horrible source it's just that they put it quite simply and it is an explanation that will work for our purposes.

So view this Image and recognize that there are 3 separate people that the one player can look to in the triangle offense. It works out perfectly. It's also weird how in life we too have 3 people we ought to look to when times are rough: God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. The triangle offense works spendidly off of what the defense does, When properly used there will always be someone there open no matter what the defense does. Likewise as opposition comes flying our way as we all know it will, no matter what we always have 3 people there and open for us. They are never guarded by the defense, making our triangle offense against the devil a lot better then any NBA teams! Don't ever be discouraged when you are being guarded by the worst opponent ever because you can always pass the ball to your teammates. Man's Triangles Offense sometimes doesn't work, but God's always will! Don't be afraid to pass your ball to your teamates of life anytime, God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost!

Stresstris

Posted by Mathew C. Walker in , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

So it's Fun Friday already, and I know a lot of you readers have been wondering what could be more fun than the story last week well let's kick it up a notch with a little stress analogy. However before I do that you have GOT TO PLAY THIS GAME, no ifs, ands, or buts, just play the game. Then after you play you will realize why I was so intent on you playing.

So that was fun wasn't it! Now you might be wondering why in heaven did I just play that game... that was random, but boy... and girl... were you wrong. Today I'd like to relate Tetris to stress in life. So as you played that game you probably got a little stressed out as time went on. But don't worry soon you'll know how to make those stress blocks just disappear. Let's relate each block to stress. As we allow stress to build up and just do nothing about it, stress quickly buries us deep beneath all those blocks, however if we try our hardest to organize those stress blocks to coincide with everything else happening in our lives then eventually the stress will simply just disappear. In other words the way to eliminate our stress is by our choices. As hard times come our way, especially things we can't control, we must have the attitude that eventually all will work out and as our attitude changes, stress will change into joy. For me, personally, the more I have going for me, the more that is happening around me, the more that I'm being attacked, the more fun and joyful I am. Likewise a lot of times when I'm playing tetris the harder it gets the more fun it is, so since you probably have figured out by now that the best solution to combat stress is your attitude how about go make yourself happy and go play some more tetris!

Egg Hunt WHAT!!!

Posted by Mathew C. Walker

I so diligently hide that egg somewhere on my page and it doesn't seem like anyone is looking for it :( sad day. Well at least those of you who are are most likely having some of the most fun ever! The egg will be in the same spot as yesterday seeing as it was hidden kind of hard and no one has let me know they found it yet ;( This makes for such a sad Elder Walker and no one likes sad people so GO FIND THAT DANG EGG... Here's a hint: The egg is hiding in a post as old as the blog itself :) Happy Hunting!

Encouragement

Posted by Mathew C. Walker in , , , , , , , , , ,

Today was a special day for me as I sat in meetings and learned of the Doctrine of Christ. I learned more than just the basics and I truly wanted to share with you what I further learned about my family! As I sat and listened I came to two conclusions. One that the Doctrine of Christ is essential to be a part of us, and two that along with the Doctrine of Christ comes the necessity to love and cherish those around us, to ultimately encourage those. That's when the spirit struck me so hard to a recognation to why I love my family so much.

I don't share this to brag but I know that now my father is the perfect example of Christ's Doctrine. I have been able to see such a huge change in my dad from when he wasn't as embedded in Christ's gospel as he is now. I have recognized that he depicts perfectly what it means to have faith. He once taught me so perfectly the meaning of faith when he said "Walk as if Jesus is standing right behind you, because He is." Never has any single line meant so much to me. My dad just gleams faith and I love it. Not only that but he's been through so much. I don't know of any man I have ever met that has been through as much as he has. Who has had to repent of somethings, but yet keeps pushing... now let's be serious who doesn't have to go through some trials here and there, but no, my Dad has gone through so much. I know he understands what it means to follow christ and to repent and be baptized (see 2 Nephi 31:11) I know my father knows what it means to have the spirit. He spreads that spirit and joy to me whenever he has the chance to teach me what he has experienced. My daddy and first favorite friend has taught me truly what it means to endure to the end.

He's gone through hell and back so that I don't have to. He knows what it is like to truly understand what I have gone through and he is always there for me! Likewise we all have a figure even better than my dad... and that's hard to believe who depicts all this and even more: Jesus Christ, He has done more than we can ever imagine for us and will always be there for us. I realize not everyone can have such an amazing father as I do, but we must realize that we can all have the peace and safety that can be found in Christ. In living as my dad does, His doctrine! Then on the other side of my family is my loving mother who doesn't have a mean bone in her body. So full of so many Christ-like attributes. Her charity and love sticks out so much to me so I'd like to tell you what makes that so important to me. As a missionary we are asked to Love everyone. As a human God commands us to love one another. Sometimes this just seems so hard. With all the turmoil people sometimes do to us how can we love them. I myself have found out that it's easy to say I love you but it's hard to be one who always loves. My mom has been such a perfect example of one who loves those she even doesn't know. I'm embarrassed to admit but many times she is more concerned for those I'm teaching than I am. This gives me one of the greatest example of how to be the love that I ought to be. Lynn G. Robbins puts the importance of being and doing into great retrospect in this last general conference when he says

"May your efforts to develop Christlike attributes be successful so that His image may be engraven in your countenance and His attributes manifest in your behavior."

This is our goal that we might be the Christ-like attributes that Christ was. Now my mom is not perfect but she depicts greatly some of the most important Christ-like attributes, however just like everyone can't have the father I got lucky to have, neither can everyone have the mother, However once again remember: WE ALL HAVE CHRIST. What better example than Christ to be a great depiction of Christ-like attributes. We can look at great role models that we have in life and they are just that GREAT, but Christ is and will always be the perfect role model. Strive in everyday life to live his gospel and be as he is. Or as Christ states it in  Mathew

"Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."

I encourage you to look for those opportunities to share Christ's Gospel, to honestly seek out service and charity and truly be as Christ would be!

"This is an email from my missionary mom's group from a member who was in the Japanese earthquake. She has given permission for it to be shared with others. It is quite a powerful testimony of how much the Lord helps us in times of trial. I thought you might like it for your Tired of Me Tuesday since your sister is working at the temple and has no p day.
I will be sending out the testimonies of two Japanese sisters who were in the earthquake. You may want to share these during your FHE. This is the first one.

Intro from Hiroko Bunderson:
'Here is the testimony My friend in Sendai had already received permission from the sisters to share her testimonywith us and others. I would love to share her testimony with everybody so we can be strengthened also.

When we translate the testimony, we tried to explain a little bit so other people who are not familiar with Japanese custom can understand but we didn't add too much either.
Thanks,
Hiroko'

Here is a testimony of a sister in Nagamachi Ward who walked from Tagajo to Natori, Sendai which is about 12 miles distance.

I was washed away while I was still in my car when the Tsunami hit after the great earthquake. The water depth was about 10 feet at that time. I was finally able to escape from the car window when my car came to a place where I was able to stand. (With the help of firefighters) I stayed at somebody’s house that night and I started walking to my house the next morning. I received much help from kind people and finally was able to get home. There were many things on the ground in my house when I get home, but I somehow managed to clean up all the mess.

When I was walking to my house, there were many places that were full of water where I couldn’t walk and I just walked along the railroad. When I was walking to my house, I was reminded of stories of pioneers who were on the way to Utah. Especially, I have been studying about Marry Fielding Smith and I knew her faith and strength. Her story encouraged me while I was walking home and I was able to persevere. Although the times are different, I think I was able to reach my home just like she walked her trail of faith.

When I got home, many people were struggling with the lack of food. Especially, the elderly people at the nursing homes were having a hard time finding their food and I was able to donate from my one-year’s food supply to them. It was a pleasure for me to do so. Last November, our Bishop in Nagamachi Ward was inspired to study about disaster prevention and food storage so we were studying about these things. I am really grateful for his inspiration.

Through my experiences this time, I learned how important it is to be obedient to the Lord’s commandments. I am grateful that I was able to receive strength through studying the history of these sisters.

There are many people who died in this disaster, however I am still here because of the Lord’s will. I think I still have a mission to do. I plan to tell my experiences to children and continue to pray so we will be able to hold on to the iron rod.

I am grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ.
I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Hideko Uchiyama"

Hopefully you all were as touched by this as I was. Keep treading and be obedient to God and the He will bless us!

All you are is Mean

Posted by Mathew C. Walker in , , , , , ,

Musical Monday already??? WOW Let me begin by writing a little jingle just for musical Monday: Here goes nothing
It's musical Monday
Better than fun friday
so Gather around the computer
Drop all your school books and your tutor
And come read the most fun blog
With music to help take you out of the FOG
OH it's Musical Monday where everything is musical
all because it's Monday
and music on Monday is miraculously memorifical
YAH!!!

So today by the title you might of figured out that I'm doing the song "Mean" by Taylor Swift. Which hint hint might help you find the egg today wink ;) wink. So Taylor Swift just so happened to write all her songs on her most recent CD about a guy in her life... not releasing who. I'm convinced this song is about Satan. We will go through the song and Satan's traps will be opened up to our eyes! So here goes nothing!
"You, with your words like knives and swords and weapons that you use against me
You have knocked me off my feet again got me feeling like I'm nothing
You, with your voice like nails on a chalkboard, calling me out when I'm wounded
You, pickin' on the weaker man

Well, you can take me down with just one single blow
But you don't know what you don't know"
I really love this verse of the song because it's so true. Satan comes attacking us with everything trying his hardest to knock us down and make us feel like nothing. Luckily we have something "sharper than a two edged sword" to fight back. God's word. We can find all things to get back on our feet in the scriptures (see D&C 6:2) He comes in our most weakest moments and it seems quite often that he truly does get to us. Later in the song Taylor Swift further explain the attitude we must have to show Satan who's boss.
And I can see you years from now in a bar, talking over a football game
With that same big loud opinion but nobody's listening
Washed up and ranting about the same old bitter things
Drunk and grumbling on about how I can't sing

But all you are is mean
All you are is mean and a liar and pathetic and alone in life
And mean, and mean, and mean, and mean

But someday I'll be living in a big old city
And all you're ever gonna be is mean, yeah
Someday, I'll be big enough so you can't hit me
And all you're ever gonna be is mean

We must learn from this. We must tell the Devil what's up. All he is is mean and a liar and pathetic and alone in life and we can't succumb to what he wants because someday we'll be living in heaven and the Devil is still going to be that same old mean man down in hell. Let's show the devil what's up and be nice to all!

Fun Friday!!!

Posted by Mathew C. Walker in , , , , , , ,

Fun friday??? What shall  I talk about??? Well today I will talk about something I think is fun then maybe if ya'll tell me what you find fun then I'll talk about that. So what is fun to Elder Walker.... POLITICS!!! AHHHhhhh... yeah I know that sounds boring... so what shall I talk about that is fun????... Story Time???? YES that's it I'll write ya'll a story in which you are sure to enjoy. So here goes funothing...

Once upon a time there lived a very burly man.

For lack of a better name we'll call him Burly. Burly was a prideful man who didn't really understand the meaning of sharing. He wanted everything to himself and made dang sure that it was his way or the highway. One day a man who he despised became his boss. Burly was not too happy by any means.
He set out to make his boss's life living heck. Now on the other side of things his boss
Brad Olsen once again for lack of my mind being able to think of any name much cooler and because I myself don't want to sound prideful and use my own name... so I will just use Brad Olsen, was one of the most charitable men ever! So any who, Brad Olsen was the type that didn't really worry about himself at all, he just simply wanted to help out all those that he was in charge of. He was completely fine with giving his service for free just because he understood the importance of charity. Burly didn't like this at all, for he was a money man and he wouldn't do anything if it didn't involve more money for himself. He truly didn't understand the importance of sharing.
Burly set out to make dang sure that Brad was hated by everyone and that he himself was actually right. He tried his hardest and as time went on he started to succeed. The people that were under Brad started to think that he was bad for them. Brad didn't fully understand why, but he didn't care either. He ignored all the attacks and just continued to be as charitable as he knew how. He tried working with Burly, but Burly just didn't want to swallow his pride. In the end Burly and his conniving tactics almost ruined the entire idea of charity, but Brad would not stop his charitable ways for anyone. He knew that the right thing to do is be of Charity. As time went on, years passed Brad eventually gained his respect back as one of the most Charitable men ever. We must be as Brad and whatever happens to us as we are Charitable to take it with a grain of salt and never step down from being that Christ-like individual who is full of Charity!
Don't Let signs like this discourage you from Charity

These next coming weeks Elder Dye and I have the awesome opportunity to help out a the pay it forward festival for the Spring Hill community! Be waiting for a blog on how that was! I hope ya'll liked my story on charity and learn for yourself that we all should understand what made Brad tick... Charity!

There is now officially going to be a set schedule for a couple of the days of the week Tuesdays will for now on be "Tired of me Tuesday" in which I will post a blog entry from someone else. Today is from my Sister who is serving her mission in Atlanta Georgia. Recently I got an email from her in which I would like to share with ya'll!

"Good news!   We have the Truth!-I have never before appreciated this more than when I went to another churches services right before conference.  They are great people. They are doing much good with what they have but my heart longs for what they do not have.   Temples to bind families, the Book of Mormon, The authority called the Priesthood, A prophet that communes with God....I feel so blessed to have the Whole truth!    I felt the feelings of having the full truth at General Conference.   My favorite talk was Elder Holland's because if taught me to treat everyone like they want the full truth and are not members- YET.

If I look to the right of me in the library I can not help but notice the hundreds of magazines that line the wall.  Millions of People read these all around the world I am sure.  There are huge titles and headlines that attract the eye-"50 ways to improve Your life in 2011", "SUCCESS!", "look Pretty", "how to inspire the best You", "Confess their Fatal Mistakes", and countless others. What are people really searching for?  The Gospel!   The gospel is 5 ways that you need to improve your life-faith, repentance, baptism, the gift of the holy Ghost and Endurance.   The gospel will bring the greatest success [improving your life in 2011 plus you get to]-Live with our Heavenly Father [forever.] Living the gospel will help you have the continuance of Jesus a guaranteed way to look pretty.   The gospel will provide you with progression so that you can be [inspired to be] the best you. and the gospel will give you the atonement to heal all of your mistakes.   I can not help but love the knowledge I have that Jesus Christs Gospel is True and everlasting. "

Elder Dye and I were walking down the street the other day wondering how we can cope with each others sarcasm better when I started rambling on as I usually do about nothing. This is in essence what came out of my mouth which for now on will be known to Elder Dye and I as the parable of the dead bunnies.

One day a bunny was crossing the street when a car driving along the road hit it. The car realizing there was no way the bunny was alive left the bunny behind and continued driving off.

Another day another bunny was crossing the same street in which another man ran this bunny over. This man however decided to slam on his brakes and run over the bunny again.

And finally on a third day another bunny was yet again crossing the street. A third man ran into this bunny slammed on his breaks and got out of the car seeing the bunny dead of the ground still gets out his knife and stabs the bunny in the head.

Knowing all three bunnies were dead on impact who did the right thing? Man 1, 2, or 3? As Elder Dye and I contemplated the gibberish of the words that I just spoke we realized that these dead bunnies did relate perfectly to our sarcasm as well as our trials in life. First how it relates to sarcasm: Man one hits or encounters someones rude sarcasm and just ignores it moving forward. Man two encounters this same sarcasm get's offended and goes out of his way to worry about what was said. Then man three not only encounters this sarcasm but he goes completely out of his way to end that of which bothered him most. Man one chose the best and most Christlike choice to move on. A better way of looking at this parable is how we face trials. Man one hits a trial and moves on. Man two hits a trial then goes back and doesn't learn seeing as he has to face that same trial again and Man three get's overly aggravated at his trials. We must be man one and just simply move on!

Today Sucked

Today has been such a slow day. Nothing to do and things just haven't been looking as good as they should

Everything just isn't turning out but then again today is April fools so who's to say I'm not just messing with  ya'll... As a matter of fact I sort of am and sort of am not. So recently in the news there has been some real tough times all around us. Life hasn't been so picture perfect as it ought to be, but does that mean we too have to be sad. NO that's where I got you. Today doesn't suck... It's a great day to be alive. Hey that reminds me of the song lyrics by Tritt Travis:

And it's a great day to be alive
I know the sun's still shinin' when I close my eyes
There's some hard times in the neighborhood
But why can't every day be just this good?

You know what better way to look at life. Sometimes it does suck but if we just always remember. IT's a great day to be alive. WOW what could stop us from spreading the joy we have!!!

Even in the saddest times: Let's be the outcast. Spread the joy!
